As YouTube celebrates it’s 10th Birthday it can also raise a toast to its ever growing influence. The credibility of the video sharing platform is only strengthening among teens, according to latest figures produced but the GlobalWebIndex (GWI).

A fifth (20%) of teenagers choose the video-sharing site as their favourite platform, followed by Instagram (16%), Facebook (14%), Tumblr (13%) and Snapchat (12%).

The social analytics firm tested the views of nearly 16,000 UK and US internet users aged 16 to 64. These key findings are worth bearing in mind as recruiters are continually looking to produce rich media content and maintain a presence in the most popular social network environments and only confirm the the importance of producing video material in order to be seen by the target audiences of HE institutions.
